Our Founder and CO-CEO of CAWI, Hani Rukh E Qamar.
Hani is a passionate young woman completing her Bachelor's degree in Biomedical Science with a major in Psychology and a minor in Neuroscience at McGill University. Hani is from Regina, Saskatchewan but she moved to Montreal, Quebec due to a scholarship opportunity. Since a young age, Hani has always been interested in women rights and promoting the role of women in diverse work environments. Due to her interest in this area, she started volunteering at the Regina Immigrant Women Society and even wrote for the Titan’s Annual Magazine, which primarily focused on women athletes. Apart from this, she attended conferences like The Talking-back Feminist Media Conference and various Global Health Seminars. She also attended the CSW64 Conference, as well as The Global Health and Innovation Conference at Yale University.
Hani is also involved with the Speakers Bureau in Plan International Canada, UAEM McGill and the Canadian Cancer Society. She is taking great initiative in educating herself on the various issues surrounding Global Health by attending the competitive Global Health Interprofessional Course at McGill University. Overall, Hani plans on doing more work promoting gender equality, mental health and the importance of global health in the future.
